LBA’s First Away Meet of the Short-Course Season!

LBA had their first Away meet of the 2019-2020 Short Course season the weekend of October 25-27, up at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is always a great meet for a few reasons; it is the first 3 day meet which gives the swimmers (and parents) a great opportunity to get to know each other, it gives everyone the chance to do things together outside of the pool (whether it be group dinners, or doing the walkway over the Hudson), and it gives the coaches the chance to see how the swimmers hold up by day 3. (Usually better than the coaches and parents!)

When all was said and done, we went home a very happy bunch, with best times, lots of Wins, some exciting relay wins, and even a new team record or two!

In the 8-Under age group, Katherine O’Brien, Keira Muety, and Declan Bradley all placed in the top 3, and both 8-Under girls relays won overall! The 9-10 age group had the most top 3 finishes! Placing top 3 in their events were; Vivienne Zangaro, Jessica Bassett, Machara Moriarty, Zachary Paggi, Nicholas Deangelis, Anthony Marra, Aiden O’Shea, Sawyer Liberman and Shaun Muety. The 9/10 boys won both their relays! Our 11-12’s placing in the top 3 were Alexis Egbert, Elizabeth Conroy and Jami Minchak.  Our 13/14s placing in the top 3 were Sofia Paggi, Kaitlin Minchak and Michael Buccino. And our “big kids” of the open age group with top 3 finishes were; Stella Curtin, Marli Murphy, Catherine Stanford, Kyle Cornish, and Kaitlin Minchak (winning an open event at 14). Both of the open girls relays took first as well! A huge shout out to 9 Year old Nicholas Deangelis for breaking the team record in the 9-10 Year old 200 Breaststroke!

What a great weekend! Our next 3 day meet is November 8-10 when we compete in the Long Island Express 2019 Fall Kick off! Congratulations to all our LBA Swimmers.
