Swim-a-Thon Letter

BBSC Families,

On November 21, 2019, our team will be participating in a USA swimming Swim-a-Thon during practice.  The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise funds to allow us to purchase new equipment as needed for our team.  We have grown leaps and bounds over the last few years and are in need of new and updating of equipment for practices.  We want to have what we need in order to offer the best practices possible for your swimmers.

So, how does this Swim-a-Thon work?  Your swimmer will receive a packet for them to keep track of their donations and progress.  When they receive the packet, please talk with your swimmer and set a goal on the number of laps (=1 length/25 yards) as their goal to accomplish in 90 minutes. For example, if your swimmer is in red or blue, their goal will be significantly less than a Gold or Platinum swimmer.  However, the sky's the limit! Swimmers, think about how many laps you swim in a normal practice. That should give you some indication of a goal number of laps.

Once they set their goal, they should ask family and friends for donations per lap.  The other option is for donors to set a single, specific amount of donation if they would prefer versus. a donation per lap.  The day of the Swim-a-Thon, November 21, 2019, the coaches will track how many laps were completed by your swimmer, so they can collect based off of their number of laps achieved in 90 minutes.

After all of the money is collected, the team will be raffling off different prizes.  Each swimmer will receive a raffle ticket for every $25.00 that they collect and an extra ticket for every $100.00 they reach.  Once all of the swim-a-thon packets are turned in after donations are collected, we will hold the raffle at our Christmas Party in December.  Each swimmer will be allowed to only win one item.

We hope everyone chooses to participate, as we hope to reach our goal of $10,000 that will go towards helping the team in a variety of ways.   We ask that all packets be returned prior to the event between November 18-20, so we can track all the swims the day of.

Please then return the packets with the donations by Monday, December 2, 2019.

We are going to have a lot of fun at this event!!   More details including the prizes that can be won through the team will follow.

As always, thank you parents and swimmers for all that you do to continue to make this such an amazing team to be a part of!
