This week at Delaware Swim Team: 11/4-11/10
Happy Veteran's Day, and thank you, to all of you who served our country!  Here's what's happening this week at Delaware Swim Team:
There are significant practice changes this weekend due to the swim meets.
Due to the team meet this weekend, there will be no practices at the University of Delaware on Saturday or Sunday, November 9-10.  The Junior National group will practice from 8:00-10:00 AM on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th.
There will be no Developmental practice at any location on Saturday, November 9.  Swimmers should be at the meet.
Age Group will be consolidated on Saturday, November 9, due to the First State Cup and the First State Mini Cup.  There will be no Age Group at New Castle the afternoon of Saturday the 9th.  All Age Group swimmers should utilize the regular Age Group practice at Pike Creek from 8:30-10:00.
There will be no Senior National Blue and Senior National Yellow practice on Saturday, November 9, due to the swim meet.
Developmental WILL have regular practice at New Castle the afternoon of Sunday the 10th, with Developmental from 4:00-5:00, and Age Group from 5:00-6:30.
Winter Instructional WILL have regular practices from 10:00-11:00 AM at Pike Creek on both Saturday and Sunday.
PS DuPont will be closed on Friday, November 8, for a school district blackout day.  PS DuPont will also be closed on Monday, November 11, for Veterans Day.  To accommodate PS DuPont swimmers for both days, we will have these groups at New Castle on both Friday the 8th and Monday the 11th:
~ Age Group: 6:00-7:30 PM
~ Developmental: 6:00-7:00 PM
~ Winter Training: 6:00-7:00 PM
The First State Cup is this weekend, November 9-10.
There is still a great need for volunteers at this meet.  As was mentioned Tuesday in an email to parents with swimmers in the meet, some volunteers may be repurposed to other volunteer positions in order to ensure that the meet runs smoothly.  Parents who have volunteered to time will most likely be repurposed to other volunteer positions.  Admissions and Safety positions are critical to running each session of the meet; parents WILL be moved into these positions if they remain too empty.
The First State Mini Cup is this weekend, on Saturday the 9th.
This meet will have relays.  Relays will be decided by the coaching staff on the day of the meet.  Swimmers should not leave the swim meet until a member of the coaching staff has either informed a swimmer that she/he is in a relay, or that she/he is done for the meet.
Many volunteer positions still remain open for the mini meet.  If you have someone who can volunteer at the mini meet, please sign up on the Job Signup page.
Delaware Swim Team is attending the Oddball Challenge on November 23-24 in Laurel, Maryland (between Baltimore and the Capital Beltway).
This meet is both an A/BB/C meet and mini meet (down to 6 years old).  The deadline to sign up is this Monday, November 11.  This is a hard deadline, since Delaware Swim Team must submit entries the next morning.  Entries received after this coming Monday will not be accepted.
Delaware Swim Team will be required to provide timers at this meet.  Since Delaware Swim Team is obligated to provide timers, parents that time during a session will be awarded the standard 2 points per session for non-team-hosted meets.  Timer positions will open at 9:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13.
The Gator Classic is December 5-8, 2019.  The deadline to sign up for this meet is Tuesday, November 12.
Any Traditional Program or National Program swimmer who does not qualify for the RMSC Holiday Invitational should attend this meet.  This meet is a Prelims/Finals meet for 11 & Overs, and a Timed Finals meet for 9-10 year olds.
The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff is REQUIRING swimmers that qualify for finals each evening to compete in finals.  The coaching staff has selected this meet in order to give swimmers an opportunity to experience a Prelims/Finals meet, as their mid-season championship meet.  All 11 & Over swimmers should keep finals session open in the case that the swimmer qualifies for finals.
Volunteer points for timing positions from the NAG Team Challenge meet have been placed in the appropriate accounts.
