Snow meet officials needed

The Snow Meet takes place this weekend. This is a quick time trial for Sharks and above (i.e., no medals or anything; kids are just qualifying for future events). Talk to your coach if you're not sure which events you're swimming. Find the meet package under Events on the website.

Racing starts at 6:30 Friday morning, again at 5pm Friday (wrapping up around 5:45) and at 1pm Saturday (wrapping up by 2).

We need timers and other officials on site by 4:45pm Friday and 12:45pm Saturday (we'll rely on parents for the early Friday morning races).

We know parents will step up to time, but please help us take the stress off our volunteer officials coordinator, Lea Barbosa Leclerc, and sign up in advance!

Do so through the Job signup tab on the Snow Meet event on our website, or just contact Lea:, 867-444-9660.

Pledge packages are being handed out for this year's Swim-a-thon, which takes place Dec. 6/7. (You can also find the form h ere.)

The goal is to collect pledges, then swim as far as you can in two hours!

The club requires every swimmer to take part in the Swim-a-thon. Funds raised will cover the $25 Swim Alberta fee; everything above that goes towards the swimmer's fundraising obligation for the season. Prizes will be awarded for the groups that raise the most money.

Each swimmer must bring someone twelve years or older to count their lengths. One counter can usually manage two swimmers if you want to make a deal with a fellow parent.

Grocery bagging Dec. 7

A reminder that Ebony is organizing grocery bagging at the co-op Saturday, Dec. 7 (not Dec. 6 as I mistakenly said in a past email). People participating will also get to take turns selling 50/50 tickets at the table. Contact Ebony Duru:

50/50 draw

Cabin Radio has agreed to cover the 50/50 draw at 5pm on Dec. 13 at the pool. If you need more books to sell, reach Meagan Wowk at or 445-5308.

Thanks all.
