Canada West Championships Results, Scholarships & Surrey Knights Meet

 

Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers Josie Field and Hillary Metcalfe competed at the Canada West Championships in Lethbridge Alberta.  They swam as part of the University of British Columbia and competed against some of the top University from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. 

Hillary Metcalfe (21) won a Gold medal in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:15.04 and another Gold medal in the Women’s 400m Medley Relay with a total time of 4:06.77.  She won a Silver medal in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:09.07 and a Bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Breaststroke with a time of 32.01.  She also placed fourth in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:30.38.

Josie Field (18) won a Silver medal in the Women’s 200m Butterfly with a time of 2:14.35.  She also placed sixth in the Women’s 800m Freestyle with a best time of 8:59.06, sixth in the Women’s 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:02.22 and eighth in the 4:28.93.

For the seventh year in a row the University of British Columbia came away with both the Women’s and Men’s title of Canada West Champions.  Overall they came away with 18 Gold medals, 15 Silver medals and 8 Bronze medals.  The Women’s Team finished with a total of 905 points, a 93 point lead from the second place team.  The Men’s Team placed with a total of 785 points, a 5 point lead from the second place team.  The University of British Columbia also broke a total of 6 Canada West records.

 

The Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers also attended the Surrey Knights Invitational Swim Meet on Saturday November 23rd.  Over 170 swimmers competed at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Center.  Twenty Two of the Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers made a great showing and came away with placing in a total of 34 events and swam many personal best times.

 

Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers Bailey Herbert and Joshua Kim both have received and accept University Scholarship offers for the Fall 2020 season.

Bailey Herbert accepted a swimming scholarship to the University of California, Los Angeles.

Joshua Kim has accepted a swimming scholarship to the University of British Columbia for the fall 2020. Joshua will be joining fellow LOSC alumni Hillary Metcalfe and Josie Field.
