Astoria Fall Chinook Open Report

We had 19 swimmers compete in Astoria at the Fall Chinook Open last weekend. We saw many great swims, including Delaney Hackett joining the ranks of our fastest swimmers ever on our team and achieving Honor Roll Status by being a 12 and Under girl swimming a 50 yd freestyle in under 30 seconds. Congratulations Delaney! Delaney had quite the meet, by swimming to 6 best times including a 13 second drop in her 500 yd freestyle and winning 2 events. WOW!

Swimmers achieving 6 personal best times included Aili, who also knocked 10 seconds off her 100 IM - William, who took 8 seconds off his 200 free and won the 50 free in his age group, and Raegan, who took 5 seconds off her 100 IM and 100 free.

Additional swimmers who won at least one event in their age group included: Gavin who took home top honors in 5 events (100 back, 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly and 200 free), Willow who also snagged first place in 5 events (100 back, 200 fly, 100 free, 100 fly and 200 free) Sarah who swam to the win in all 3 of her events (100 free, 100 fly, 200 back), Michelle who also took top honors in 3 races (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 back), and Skyla who won the 100 back, 200 IM and 100 free.

Our 10 and Unders had a great showing in Astoria. River swam to a best time in the 50 free, Claire had a 5 second frop in her 50 fly, Matthew had a 13 sec drop in his 50 breaststroke among his 4 best times, Oceana had 5 best times including an 18 second drop in the 100 back, and Rhylie dropped time in both the 100 IM and 100 free.

And the rest of the crew dropped time in a minimum of 4 events – wow! Ava swim to 5 best times and a 5 second drop in the 100 free – Liam had 4 best times and a 17 second improvement in his 100 back – Finnegan swam to 5 personal bests and a 8 second drop in the 100 back – Seth swam to 5 best times and a 25 second improvement in his 200 free (!) - and Max also swam to 5 best times and had a 7 second drop in his 200 breast.

Great job Osprey!
