EBA - CDST site had a great time at the winter championship meets, 71st Husky Invitational and Junior Olympics last weekend.
71st Husky Invitational Swim Meet - Federal Way, WA
This swim meet is a traditional winter senior-level travel meet for CDST and other EBA sites. Husky Invitational is a well-known swimming invitational meet in national wide. It's open to all FINA Federations, USA Swimming clubs, and Collegiate Swimming Teams. Because of the Olympic Year is coming, we have a unique meet format which swimmers will race Short Course Yard(SCY) in the preliminary, and Long Course Meter(LCM) in the Finals. Swimmers will have the chance to qualify for the Olympic Trials Cuts for the 2020 Olympic Trials. EBA had 13 swimmers racing in the meet, CDST swimmers are Ashely Allen, Marrisa Savage, Anthony Lee, Daniel Huang, Edward Huang and Jasper Wu. The following are highlights for this meet from CDST swimmers.
Ashely Allen and Marrisa Savage are the first time to attend the Husky Invite. Both of the girls went the best times in all their events. They raced in all relays and split best personal times as well in the relay. They have gained many great experiences at this travel meet. Fast swim times from them: 50 Free - 25.87, Marrisa Savage. 100 Breast - 1:11.06, Ashely Allen.
Man 50 SCY/LCM Freestyle - Jasper Wu is the only EBA swimmer made final in this event. His preliminary time was 21.48, which faster than his personal best time, 21.50. At Final at night, he went 24.53 in the long course meter. He didn't get the best time, but without any long course training in the past four months, this was an excellent result! Daniel Huang went 23.35 with the shoulder injury.
Man 200 SCY Freestyle - Jasper Wu dropped 2.7 seconds that made him the fastest 200 Freestyler in CDST history. His time was 1:43.89. He was qualified for the final. He was elected as the Best Performer of EBA swimmer at the meet.
Man 500 SCY Freestyle - Edward Huang is the only EBA swimmer in this event. With his hard training in the past months, Edward went 5:01.86 in his 500 free. Way to go!
Man 100 Y Backstroke - Edward Huang got his personal best 55.35, which dropped 0.8 seconds from his old time.
Man 200 Y Backstroke - Edward Huang got his personal best 2:01.01, which dropped 5 seconds from his old time. This time makes him the second-fastest 200 backstroker on the CDST team history.
Man 100 Y Breaststroke - High School Senior Anthony Lee was very close to his personal best time, 1:00.51. However, he went 1:01.41, which is his seasonal best time in Short Course Yard.
Winter 14 & Under Junior Olympic - San Jose, CA
CDST had a total of 7 swimmers entered individual events in the Winter Junior Olympic. Swimmers were racing under hard weather conditions. Pouring raining and freezing temperature on Saturday. However, most of them still did great races at the meet. Eric Meng was the biggest scorer at the meet. He scored 59 points and one gold medal in 100 Y backstroke. Way to go!
