Great job to Jacob Ballard on his excellent swims at Junior Nationals last weekend! Winter Juniors is the fastest short course meet for 18 and younger swimmers in the country, and there were lots of spectacular swims from the most talented and dedicated athletes in the nation. Only 5 total swimmers from Inland Empire even qualified to attend the meet in Federal Way!
Jacob had 4 swims over the course of the weekend. In his primary event, the 100 breast, he dropped a full second from his best time and now owns the second fastest 100 breaststroke swim in team history. He of course wanted to break the record, but is well on his way! Jacob got under the 50 second mark for the first time in the 100 fly, going 49.99. He dropped a whopping 4 seconds in his 200 IM, and finished the meet with a half second drop in the 100 back. His best finish was 56th (out of 101) in the breast against the best competition in the nation!
This was Jacob’s first time attending this level of meet, and his focus and race planning was superb so he was able to drop all that time! It was a great privilege to coach him and to see an array of incredible swims from the athletes who were there. Congratulations Jacob!
