December 17, 2019
Our Age Group athletes are being challenged to complete either the IMR or the IMX Events so that WAC is eligible to compete in the National Virtual Club Championship. You can complete these events at any time during the Short Course Season, and we have several opportunities in January/Early February to try to tackle these events. This series of events is a challenge that everyone should be working towards with focused effort in practices to train for all 4 strokes and a range of distances.
Coaches are working on our last few meet entries now - please make sure you have declared your intentions. Entries for the early January Tri-Meet will be submitted in the next day or two, January B Meet has already been submitted, Kelly German will go in right after Christmas (we will be able to add events for athletes who qualify at the Tri-Meet), and then the Last Ditch meet (First weekend in Feb) will be submitted right after Christmas. That will leave only the Regioanl Meet (athletes 9+) and the Barbara Kay Meet (8&under).
Please double check the Christmas schedule that has been posted and will start next Monday December 22nd.
If you have any questions - please don't hesitate to reach out!
*****MORE on the IMX Challenge:
IM Ready (IMR) (Specifically for Bronze 1, Silver 1, Gold 1)
The first step in the IMX Challenge is IM Ready (or IMR). To get
"IM Ready," swimmers compete in a
series of five
events at shorter distances. Below, we've listed the line-up by age
9 & Under; 10-year olds: 100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM (SC)
11-year olds; 12-year olds: 200 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM (SC)
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18-year olds: 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM
Once you've swum each event at least once at an official meet, you can log-in to your Deck Pass Account, and find out where you rank against all the other swimmers on your club team. You do not need to complete the IM Ready program to participate in the IM Xtreme. It is simply a stepping stone.
IM XTREME (IMX) (Specifically Bronze 2, Silver 2, and Gold 2)
Ready to move forward? The next step is IM Xtreme (IMX). The IMX
ranking includes a series of five
or six events at longer distances. Once you've completed the IMX
program, you can find out where your IMX score ranks nationally,
within your zone, within your LSC rank and on your club.
