YFD Winter Championships Recap

After months of hard work, YFD put together a Winter Championship to remember last weekend as we shined at both the MIT Invitational in Boston, Mass. and the TYR Classic here in New York. We want to send a huge congratulations to everyone who competed! We’re so proud of you!

In Boston, we had 70 swimmers represent YFD—a 22% increase from last season. Team scores weren’t kept, but our presence across all age groups was undeniable! Most importantly we had 77% best times as a team. Way to go everyone!

Special shout out to Lily Ramirez (10) who placed third overall in her age group for the high point award. Way to go Lily!

Among the many highlights of the meet was Kyle Malloy’s first place overall in the 13-14 boys 100 butterfly. Big swim Kyle! Also placing in the top 3 were Kimberly Dutta (3rd-100/200 Breast - Kimberly's 200 breast time would have scored at the 2019 Women's Ivy League Champs- Incredible!), Nikolai Haridasan (2nd-50/100 Fly; 3rd-50 Back, 50 Free, 100 IM), Lily Ramirez (2nd-100 Free; 3rd-50 Free, 100 Back), and Izzy Riva (2nd-50 Free). Y’all were amazing!

We also want to draw attention to our 11 NCSA Age Group qualifiers that we have as of December. Lastly, we have to give a big thank you to Peggy Roonprapunt for organizing the team dinner that saw over 100 YFD swimmers and family members get together outside of the pool and have a great night together! Thank you Peggy!!

Meanwhile, the TYR Classic hosted at Felix Festa saw equally impressive performances from our 8 & unders all the way to our seniors!

Kathryn Cragg stole the show with five event wins! Kathryn took first in the 8U Girls 25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Fly, and 25/50 Breast. She also added a silver in the 50 free. Great job Kathryn!
