January 5, 2020
Good evening everyone,
Hope you all had the opportunity to get some rest and relaxation over the past few weeks. I have a couple of reminders and an announcement to share with you all.
I will start with the news. I'm excited to announce that Shannon Whetzel will be starting tomorrow (1/6/2020) as a our new assistant coach. For those of you who have not met Shannon before, she swam and played water polo for both the dolphins and wildcats as recently as 2016. She will bring a great energy to the deck and is very knowledgable about swimming. She will be a great addition to the coaching staff. Please be sure to welcom her when you see her on deck.
Now for reminders. We will have a new schedule beginning tomorrow. We will open up our training camp for our UHS swimmers starting tomorrow. If your swimmer plans to swim for the wildcats this coming season, I strongly reccomend that they participate in this camp. It begins tomorrow (1/6/2020) and goes through the week prior to the official start date of UHS swim season (2/8/2020). Weights are not mandatory in the mornings, but are highly reccomended. I sent an email out with details about the camp on (12/20/2019). The schedule will vary each week as we go through different phases of training.
The first week looks like this:
January 6-January 10
Monday: Morning weights from 6:00-7:30, Afternoon swim from 3:30-4:30 (You read that right. Only one hour)

Wednesday: Morning Weight 6:00-7:30, Afternoon swim 3:30-4:30
Thursday: Afternoon Swim 3:30-5:30

*If your swimmer plans on lifting in the mornings during high school season, they need to attend the morning weight sessions this week. I will be recording results for their 1 rep max for deadlift, backsquat and push press. These will be used as baseline training numbers for your swimmers throughout the course of our season.

The new schedule for the kids who are not high school swimmers was sent out on 12/30/19. It also had our new groups and how plan to proceed. Now that I have an assistant coach, I will be able to test for Bronze. We will be able top support four groups with another coach. I understand that some of you were having difficulty accessing the criteria for each group on our website. I am working to get this fixed. I will include the criteria in this email so you can all see it. ( These will not apply for our high school swimmers until May). I will test our remaining swimmers to designate them to a group in the coming weeks.
