ECA Hosts WOW in Annual Dual

East Carolina Aquatics hosted it’s friendly in-state rival, the Waves of Wilmington, in dual competition January 11-12.  Though WOW won the meet, ECA had several top performers. 

12-year-old Ezra Zapler won the Boys 11-12 100 IM in a team record time of 1:00.51. The previous record of 1:01.75 was set by Jack Nowacek in 2015.  Zapler also topped the podium in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 500 Free, and 50 Breast. 

Luke McCarthy won the 13-14 Boys 500 Free and Russell Exum won the 15-18 500 Free. 

Kristen Ivey won the 13-14 girls 100 Free and 500 Free.  Madeline Smith won the 15-18 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, and 100 IM.  Emma Hastings took the top spot in the 500 Free.

ECA won 2 relays.  That includes the 10 & Under Boys 200 Free Relay of Wren Tyson, Owen Priechenfried, Ben Davis, and Miller Tyson.  The 15-18 Boys 200 Free Relay of Jack Nowacek, Sadler Smith, Nathan Wingard, and Conner Wang placed first as well. 

ECA will hold a Qualifier meet February 9 before gearing up for North Carolina Swimming Championships.
