Upcoming meets:

Heartbreaker meet in Centralia, IL on 2/2. Sign ups though Friday. I will turn them in on Sunday. We have 4 swimers going. We will be going to this meet. Coach Luke will be attending.

KWBY Invitational in Kirkwood on 2/15. Registration deadline is 2/5.

Central Regional Championships is on 3/6-3/8. All swimmers whom have swam in atleast 2 other meets can attend this meet.

Area Championships is on 3/20-3/22. It is for those swimmers whom have a qualifying time OR are in the top 24 for that time in the area. We can also send a relay team. Swimmers can just swim on the relay. To Qualify, you have to swim in 3 meets prior to this one. The regional meet does count as a meet.

If you want to swim in the Regionals and try for Areas, and need additional meets, there are some additional meet available that I was not planning on going to. I can enter you in any meet, but I selected meets that were as close as possible and that worked for our schedule. Those options are:

King of the Pool, 1/26 in Maryville IL

Tom & Becky Invitational 2/7-2/9 in Hannibal, MO

If interested, please let me know ASAP and I will work on it.

Practice notes:

Groups 1 & 2 are working still some skill building and endurance for another few weeks.

Group 3 will be FINISHING Phase 2, which is our endurance work this week. I think they will be happy to finish this phase. It was an important phase of development, albeit not a fun one. Those whom have been working hard, will see the benefits soon. We will start working on building some speed and selection Area races for those whom plan to attend that meet.

We will be working on putting some "polish" on skills. This is working to make sure that they have good technique on starts and turns, streamlines, and those soft skills. As we prepare to close out the season, these skills along with more focus on race pace training, should be the final push into swimming as far as they are capable doing.

Looking forward to a great week!

Angie
