February 1, 2020
The 2020 Boys WIAA H.S. Sectional Championship and D2 and D1 State Championship Meets will be held on Saturday, February 15, and Friday/Saturday, February 21/22 respectively. For times achieved by USA Swimming registered swimmers competing at these meets to be eligible for entry into the USA SWIMS database, the meets must be observed by two USA Swimming certified Stroke and Turn officials.
Observing swims is an easy task. All you need to do is observe where the USA Swimming technical rules differ from WIAA/NFHS rules. All other violations are handled by WIAA officials. More information can be found in the Observed Swims guide, and the attached document that includes a checklist of responsibilites and information for stroke and turn judges as observers.
If you are willing and able to volunteer to be an observing official at one of more of the Sectional or State Championship Meets, please sign-up using the online form as per the link below:
Assignments will be made based on the order received. A confirmation reply email with further information and instructions will be sent upon confirmation of assignment. Remember, observing officials get free admission and a great spot on the deck from which to watch the meet!
Also, please note that USA Swimming certified officials, who are serving as WIAA meet officials, may also perform the duties of a USA Swimming observer, instead of the need for a separate official. So preference may be given to any such dual certified officials assigned by the WIAA to serve at these meets.
Thanks for your consideration and support of our USA Swimming member high school athletes!
