Blizzard Blast 2020 Meet Review
We had 9 swimmers attend the 2020 Blizzard Blast in Carson City, NV. It was another meet for TTST where all 9 swimmers had personal best swims. Coaches use the meets to cross check with what we are coaching in practice and how that is coming out in a racing situation. Coach Sam said it best. “I focused on the wins from their individual swims and what I could glean from my interactions and knowledge of them there in the moment.” Here are the details of each swimmers’ best swims:
Walker Egide age 8, crushed it again. He had best times in all his swims 25 Free, 50 Back, 25 Breast, 50 Fly, and 100 I.M. Walker is qualified for the 14 & Under Sierra Championships coming up in early March. Walker tied with teammate Carter for Blizzard Blast 2020 Boys Swimmer of the Meet.
Carter McKechnie age 13 also crushed it again. Carter had best times in all his swims 50 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, and 200 I.M. Carter pays attention to detail and races hard. I can’t wait to see him continue to improve! Carter is also Blizzard Blast 2020 Boys Swimmer of the Meet.
Addison Schaller age 11, swam many events and most of them were best time swims. Addison improved on her 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 50 Back, 1st ever 100 Back, 50 Breast, 100 Breast, and 100 I.M. A great effort by Addison earns her Blizzard Blast 2020 Girls Swimmer of the Meet.
Peyton Egide age 10, went best times in his 100 Free, 50 Back, and 100 Breast. Peyton is also qualified for the Sierra Championships coming up in early March. Great job at Blizzard Blast!
Ty Hammond age 10, went best times in his 100 Free, and 50 Back. I am happy to see the Freestyle improvement and shows all the technique work he has been focusing on with Coach Sam! Keep it up Ty.
Maris Durant-Bender age 12 went best times in her 200 Free, 50 Back, and 50 Breast. Maris is another great team example of perseverance through adversity. Perseverance is the key to success in this sport. Maris gets it, and loves swimming, she is on her way to a great swimming career. Good job Maris.
Kathryn Lopez age 11, went best times in her 50 Back, 50 Breast, and 100 I.M. Great job Kathryn. Keep up the wonderful attitude and focus.
John Lanza age 11, went best times in his 50 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, and 50 Fly. John is knocking on the door of his age group Sierra Nevada Championship qualifying times. I really hope you get them in the next few meets. Go John!
Hope Smith age 13, went best times in her 200 Back, 200 Breast, and 100 Fly. She made another Sierra Championship Time in her 200 Breaststroke improvement! I look forward to seeing Hope race in the next few events for more time standards in the March Madness Championship Season coming up.
Thank you, parents and coaches Sam, and Jenn, for all your help on at the 2020 Blizzard Blast. It was a busy weekend of racing for TTST with 30 swimmers at two separate meets. The results showed the organized effort getting it done for our team. It was Truckee Time!
