2020 Y Champs Meet Eligibility -Update

Dear TOPS Parents & Coaches,

Thanks to Coach Christian for coming up with the spreadsheet tracking how many ‘closed’ Y meets each athletes has attended. The link is below, in excel spreadsheet form.

For IL YMCA District Meet (which we are co-hosting at Naperville Central High School), here is the important information.

YMCA Meet Participation: In order to be eligible to compete, each athlete must have competed in a minimum of [2] closed YMCA inter-association meets since September 1 of the current season. The only exception will be for high school aged swimmers who competed for their inter-scholastic team. These athletes must have competed in at least [1] closed YMCA inter-association meets in the time allotted.

For the IL YMCA State Meet, here is the important information.

YMCA Meet Participation: In order for a swimmer to be eligible to compete at the Illinois YMCA Swimming State Championship a swimmer must represent his/her association in closed YMCA competition as defined by the “SWIMMING ADDENDUM TO THE RULES THAT GOVERN YMCA, at least three (3) times in the competitive season.

Therefore, if your swimmer needs to attend the Pav Meet at Stagg High School on Sunday, February 16, please ‘commit to attend’ this meet as soon as possible. The entry deadline is Thursday, February 6 at 11:59pm.

If your swimmer (most likely boy’s high school swimmers) cannot attend the Pav meet on February 16, we MAY be able to attend a closed Y meet on Sunday, February 23 in Peru, IL.

Thank you,

Coach Paul
