Coaches Meet Report: January & February 2020

Hello Bluefin Swimmers & Parents,

We wanted to take a moment to update our club on our success so far in 2020. Here are a few notes from our coaches regarding the meets that our club attended in January & February to date. We are so proud of all of our swimmers!

Age Group AAA LC #1

During the January 10th & 11th weekend, 3 of our athletes competed at the first long course meet of the season.  We had an excellent showing! Alex broke another provincial record in the 100 backstroke and got closer to at least three others! Ben and Eric posted many personal bests and placed well within their events. Alex and Ben are now seated first and second in the province in the U14 50 fly. Way to go! Love it!

Great work guys!

Age Group AA Short Course Meet #1

We had lots of excitement at the DCSC meet held at the new Zatsman Sportsplex on the 19th of January. Most of our swimmers posted personal bests in each event. Ella achieved her AAA time in the 200 freestyle and Jorja has moved up to AAA as she now has AAA times in 3 different events! Congratulations, we are very proud!

All of our athletes were focused on their performance which was great to see. They have all been working hard and it has certainly paid off.

Keep training hard!

Coach Angela

Age Group AAA Long Course #2

We had an amazing day at the meet at Dalhousie on February 1st. It began with Jorja taking 6 seconds off of her 50 freestlye and continued to go up from there. Ben broke the club record in the 50 free, it was a great race!  Alex also broke 2 club records. The 400IM was Alex’s own record which he lowered during prelims and came back in the finals, lowering it again. He also broke the 50 fly record held by Hayden. Super! Eric posted 7 out of 8 personal bests in his events.

Great results from our team! We are looking forward to AA Winter Champs in Antigonish where more of our swimmers can achieve AAA times.

Way to go, Bluefins!

Coach Angela

Nova Tech Meet #3:

Wow! I am so proud of the effort that was put in by each and every one of our swimmers at the first Nova Teach meet of 2020! There were best times all around and a few of our swimmers took 10 & 20 seconds off of individual events, amazing!

Highlights from the last few meets are as follows:

Graduations from Nova Tech Level 1 to Nova Tech Level 2

Jordyn McPhee (Dec 2019)

Sebastian Landry (Dec 2019)

Gabriel DeJong (Jan 2020)

Graduations from Nova Tech Level 2 to Age Group

Mckenzie Moore (Jan 2020)

Our next Nova Tech meet is scheduled for the 22nd of February and again, will take place at Centennial pool in Halifax. We will be reviewing individual entries with each swimmer during practices over the next week. Swimmers who have graduated to Age Group will now receive emails regarding the upcoming Age Group Meets.

Way to go Nova Tech swimmers, keep up the great work!
