ACAC Goes to Kingsport

The Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) swam in Kingsport at the 2020 Polar Bear Swim Meet hosted by the Barracuda Swim Club.  They made further steps toward what is shaping up to be a great conclusionary portion of the short course season.  

34 swimmers competed.  Some swimmers made Southeastern or bonus Southeastern cuts.  Karol Shaw (10) made Southeasterns in seven events, winning two and placing second five times.  Kuba Shaw (12) made five Southeastern cuts on the strength of four victories.  Sarah Walker (17) made a bonus cut with a victory in the 100 Fly. 

Other ACAC swimmers won events and/or placed second.  Grace LaCharite (15) won the 50 Free and 100 Breast.   Amelia Hodge (14) won the 200 Breast and placed second in the 200IM and the 100 Breast.  Rosalee Wenhame (13) won the 200 Back and placed second in the 200 IM and 100 Back.  Ben Martin (7) won the 25 Free and took second in the 25 Back.  Sarah Saunders (11) won the 200 Breast and placed second in the 500 Free. Hallie Hill (10) won the 100 Free. Brooke Vaught (16) won the 200 IM.  Brighton Wenhame (11) won the 500 Free.  Emmerson Zimmer (9) won the 500 Free.

Still other swimmers had notable performances.  William O’Neil (11) took second in the 50 Free, 200 Free and 100 Breast.  Jessica King (15) took second in the 200 Free and 200 Back.  Alexandra Kaye (10) placed second in the 50 Back and 50 Fly. Sophia Ciorciari (10) took second in the 500 Free.  Keyara Colandro (14) took second in the 400 IM.  Benjamin Helus (10) was runner-up in the 200 Free.  Carl Helus (13) took second in the 100 Breast.  Sarah Helus (12) placed second in the 200 Free.  Dylan Hodge (12) took second in the 200 IM. 

The coaching staff and ACAC parents were quite proud of the swimmers’ performances.  Next up for ACAC will be the Regional Championships in Chattanooga.
