Open Registration 2020

The Trails Swim Team has opened registration for the 2020 summer swim season, which runs May 13 to July 13. This year the team will be celebrating its 50th anniversary! The team will host an event at the pool Saturday, June 27. Whether you were part of the family 50 years ago or just joining, please come celebrate the team with us!

Trails is a recreational outdoor summer swim team that combines a fun social atmosphere within a competitive swim program. Our goal is to stimulate an interest in competitive swimming and provide a fun social environment for year-round swimmers to maintain fitness without the demands and intensity of a more aggressive winter league. Trails is about: Teamwork, Respect, Attitude, Integrity, Leadership and of course Swimming. We hope that each swimmer will develop a lifetime love for swimming, basic skills in all four competitive strokes, and new friendships with great memories.

After strong performance last year placing fourth at the Conference championship and seeing several long-standing team records broken, the Trails Swim Team is looking forward  to competing against teams that challenge swimmers, while also maintaining the fun, social aspects of a summer swim team that supports swimmers of all abilities.

In addition to the conference schedule, which features meets on Tuesday nights, the team hosts an annual invitational meet on June 20, a highlight of the season that attracts several hundred swimmers and up to a dozen teams.

The Trails Swim Team practices and has home meets at the Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool in Algonquin, and is looking for swimmers aged 5 to 18 to participate. Practices are by age group Monday through Friday mornings with opportunities for stroke help on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Although swimming is considered an individual sport, our summer team is structured with an emphasis on the team and support for one another. Every swimmer matters. Meets often feel like picnics, with tents and food and

summer fun for the entire family. Other highlights include Fun Fridays with a Build Your Own Sundae Day or Poolside Breakfast, the awards banquet and a Magic Waters celebration at the end of the season.

Regardless of what skill level swimmers bring, the team provides a positive reinforcement for hard work and a positive attitude. Kids are rewarded with heat winner tags that decorate their swim bags, as well as placement ribbons and colorful personal bests ribbons—a team favorite. But most importantly, swimmers are provided with an opportunity to grow in sportsmanship, leadership and friendship.

The Trails Swim Team is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization run by a parent-volunteer board.
