Erwee and Bains Sweep SOTW for Queens

For the third time this season, the Queens University of Charlotte swimming program has claimed both the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Male and Female Swimmer of the Week awards. Sophomore  Luke Erwee and junior  Francesca Bains have each earned the honor for the first time this season.
The weekly award is the first of its kind for Erwee in his young career, while Bains earns her third such award from the conference after both swimmers led Queens to successful weekends in Columbia, S.C. at the 2020 South Carolina Winter Invitational.
Erwee had three podium finish in the two-day event, including a victory in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:09.27. The Durban, South Africa native also finished third overall in the 500-Yard Freestyle and 400-Yard I.M. races.
Bains also had two Top 3 finishes during the weekend, including two distance victories. Her first win came via a swim of 10:11.55 in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle, followed by a first place finish in the 400-Yard I.M. Bains was the runner-up in the 500-Yard Freestyle.
"Both Fran and Luke did an excellent job using South Carolina as a tune up for conference and NCAAS," said Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership/Director of Swimming Operations  Jeff Dugdale. "Congratulations to the both of them, they earned it."
