Over last weeks Presidents Weekend, 18 of our top senior swimmers competed in one of the only true Senior Competition meets held in Florida Swimming. No age groups, no taper, no shave...just get up and race with the best. This included swimmers like Ryan Lochte, Caleb Dressell and former female world record holder Kylie Masse.
Our goal was to swim at least our best unshaved times which was the case the majority of the time. Many swimmers got up and posted lifetime bests. This included Molli Barron, Sidney Brann, Cole Firlie, Arik Katz, Winston Kirby, Sarah Koenig, Frank Runge and Dimiter Zafirov.
A full 17 swimmers qualified for one or more final swims over the 3 day meet. Arik Katz won the 1500 m free against some of the countries best milers. Sidney Brann, one of the youngest swimmers in the meet at 13 yrs., swam to her first Futures qualifying time in the 200 meter backstroke. Futures is a national level meet that is the last step before Junior Nationals.
For all of these swimmers it was their last step before their Sectional, FLAG or Senior Championships.
