Tsunami Senior and Harvard bound Arik Katz traveled to Iowa to race America's best at the TYR Grand Prix meet. His first night he got to swim his 1500 specialty racing two former Olympians in this race. From the USA Swimming news page we have the following excerpt;
On the men’s side, National Teamer Arik Katz won the 1500 in 15:10.94, outpacing fellow National Team members Jordan Wilimovsky (2nd, 15:12.49) and Zane Grothe (4th, 15:28.16). Akaram Mahmoud of Wolfpack Elite was third in 15:16.56.
“Mid-way through, I was just trying to stay strong, stay smooth and hold my pace,” Katz said. “I could see how close it was, and when I saw that I was on (Wilimovsky and Mahmoud’s) feet, I just really wanted to try my best to stay with them and see what would happen.”
The meet continues through Saturday but Arik has already reached his basic goal for this meet.
Great job Arik...GO TSUNAMI
