Swim BC COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Information

In light of the ongoing outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Swim BC would like to provide some assistance to clubs who are concerned about the health and safety of their members. There have been a few questions over the last few days whether clubs should participate in team travel and camps. As of today, BC Centre for Disease Control and Health Canada state that the risk of infection for Canadians is low. They recommend that if you are travelling to be aware of the latest travel alerts and to monitor your health during the trip and upon return. Travel within Canada is safe but if you're travelling internationally be aware of the travel advisories in place. With regards to day-to-day operations in your club, encourage your athletes to stay home if they are sick.

Based on current information, Swim BC will be continuing our programming as normal. However, it is up to the individual clubs to decide what is best based on their members and travel plans. Resources can be found below to help understand the situation and make the best decision for your club.

Government Resources:
Health Canada - COVID-19 Outbreak Update
BC Center for Disease Control - Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

As this is still an ongoing situation, if there are any changes we will keep you informed. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us and we'll be happy to help.
