March 12, 2020
We are reaching out to you with a team update regarding York Swim Club during the current championship season due to the developing COVID-19 pandemic. Per the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and other State and Local Health Departments, our team administration and coaches have made the difficult decision that York Swim Club will be suspending all team travel to meets and events outside the Washington Metropolitan area through April 11th, 2020. These meets includes NCSA Spring Swimming Championships in Orlando, NCSA Age Group Swimming Championships in Orlando, and the Eastern Zone Sectional Meet in Christiansburg.
In addition to the travel meets the March Madness Swim Meet scheduled for March 27th-29th 2020 will also be canceled.
As this decision was made today, we are in the process of working with meet directors, hotels, transportation companies, etc. to determine if refunds will be possible. Further information will be made available in the coming days.
We understand that these decisions will be upsetting and very disappointing for your swimmers and family members as the athletes have worked extremely hard this season. Please take the time to congratulate your athletes at all levels on their accomplishments this season. Please know how proud of each and every swimmer on our team we are.
At this time, we will continue to hold regular swim practices. We are working with our team staff and pool facilities to determine plans for practice moving forward. As of today, the team bowling event and the Senior Retreat are still on schedule, we will reassess these events in the next few weeks.
York Swim Club does not take these decisions lightly. We will continue to monitor the situation with all relevant parties. As information becomes available, we will share it with you promptly.
Our team’s top priority is the health and safety of our athletes, families and the coaching staff.
