COVID-19 Team Update

This email represents the most up to date news on the COVID-19 coronavirus as it pertains to the GPAC swim team.

USA SWIMMING SUSPENDS ALL EVENTS FOR 30 DAYS
No meets will take place at all throughout the country. As it pertains to our team, Mini Champs, Senior Champs, and NCSA Jr Nationals have been indefinitely postponed. There is no indication right now that any canceled event (to include Silver Champs) will be rescheduled or any detail, big or small, about rescheduled meets.

GPAC SWIM TEAM PRACTICES ARE STILL TAKING PLACE
As long as GCIT is open, we can still hold swim practices. As per Coach Ryan's email earlier today, dryland is canceled. We are working on a plan to have Platinum B swimmers train in the water rather than use the weightroom on Tuesdays and Fridays. Ryan will have an email out about that tomorrow.

As I stated in my email earlier this week, we completely respect the decision of parents to keep their swimmers home at this time.

POSSIBLE INTERSQUAD MEET
We are talking about possibly holding a GPAC intersquad meet next Saturday. We have no framework for that meet right now. Due to the moratorium on USA Swimming events, it would not be a sanctioned meet. This means that times will not go into the GPAC or national times database and cannot be used into entry for any meet.

This is all of the information we have at this time: no swim meets for at least a month, no concrete plans for meets after that time, practices still taking place (no dryland) as long as GCIT remains open. As we get more information, we will pass it along to all of you. This is certainly one of the most serious and hectic situations I have ever encountered professionally. More than anything, I wish for all GPAC swimmers, coaches, family, extended family, and friends to get through this period healthy.

Sincerely,
Matt Sprang
