anxiety on the rise

Good morning,

So I don't have any updates as to if or when the YMCA will/will not close. So no news is good news like they say and I will just keep you informed as things pass my way.  We will continue to run our practices and if you feel like this is not the best choice for your swimmer to attend, please do what you feel is best.

I have been in contact with many swim coaches/colleagues across the state and one especially who I consider a  mentor, Terri Eudy, from Rockford Riptide.  She sent this email to her families yesterday and I think it is very valid. Please take a look at it.  We need to be real when talking with our kids, especially youngers one but make sure you let them know that our community, the YMCA, school districts and their families are doing the BEST to keep them safe.

excerpt from her team email:

Following posts by the AAP and CDC, they are seeing increased anxiety among kids. Youngsters are wondering what will happen next? Because things are changing on a daily basis, we need to reassure them that measures are in place to handle the illness.

Please keep an eye on your kiddos for stress and worry. The American Academy of Pediatricians has released information for parents with talk points on the corona virus on their website called I have also linked here

Please reach out with any questions.
