An Important Message From Sachem Swim Club

An important message from Coach Ely & the SSC Board Of Directors:

Effective immediately, Sachem Swim Club is suspending it's operations clubwide. This will be in effect through Wednesday, May 15th (at the earliest - updated 03/28 at 9:45 a.m.). At that point, we will reevaluate the situation and determine if we will continue the suspension or resume operations. This is obviously dependent on the availability of the Sachem high school pools and/or the availability of the YMCA pools, none of which are open for business for the next two weeks.

The winter program of the Beginner & Beginner Plus programs is officially over. I will be sending all the families in the program a separate email regarding the program and registration moving forward.

We have postponed our guest speaker Katie Hoff's appearance on March 25th, and will most likely do the same for the Jack Conger clinic on April 26th. Both of these events WILL be rescheduled.

As stated in previous emails, Metropolitan Swimming has suspended ALL competition through the end of March. The Metro Board will reevaluate the situation on April 1st and decide on competitions moving forward. This includes the March Sprint Championship Meet. We do NOT have information on Counties at the present time. That decision will be made based on the Aquatic Center's availability (it's run by Nassau County), and if our teams are able to train between now and then.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we all try to process and live through this health crisis. Though we are saddened to halt our operations, we feel it’s best to respect social-distancing and contribute to the movement to slow the spread of this highly contagious virus. Many of us are feeling fear and frustration. We’re worried about the health and well-being of ourselves and our loved ones. While all of these things may affect our daily lives, one thing is certain, at Sachem Swim Club we have done our very best to respect our responsibility as leaders in our community and strive to educate our athletes to understand that no matter  what, life goes on and we all need to learn the skills to adapt and overcome any situation.

I will email everyone with new information when and if it comes available. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to email me at coachely44@verizon.net. If you would like to make contact with a board member, their email addresses are all listed on the website.

So for now, everyone stay healthy, stay home, and wash your hands!
