PASA Breaststroker Lauren McCormack commits to Vanderbilt

San Francisco, California’s Lauren McCormack has announced her commitment to Vanderbilt University for 2020-21. She will join  Eleanor Beers and  Gabriela Pierobon Mays in the class of 2024.

McCormack is a senior at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. She swims year-round for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and specializes in breaststroke. She finished 12th in the 100 breast (1:04.75) at 2019 CIF Central Coast Section Championships. She also contributed to three St. Ignatius relays, anchoring the 4th-place 200 medley relay (24.21), leading off the 10th-place 200 free relay (24.83), and leading off the 400 free relay that finished 20th in prelims.

In club swimming, McCormack competed at Mt. Hood Futures this summer in the 100/200 breast and 200 IM. Earlier in the summer she had notched PBs in the LCM 100/200/400 free and 200/400 IM. Last fall she swam at the FINA World Cup stop in Budapest, earning lifetime bests in the SCM 50/100/200 breast, 50 fly, and 100/200 IM.

It took 1:01.92/ 2:13.24 to score in the breaststroke at 2019 SEC Championships. Vanderbilt had three 1:03 100 breaststrokers on the roster last year. McCormack will overlap one year with Lindsey Gordon and Hannah Hunt, and two years with Lizzy Colwell.
