Message From EBSC President

Dear Gator Family,

We are living in extraordinarily difficult times and write to you in the middle of a situation that has changed much more quickly than I thought possible.  What has not changed is that our athletes, coaches and their families come first at Elmbrook Swim Club.  With that in mind, and after much deliberation, we write to you with a number of important announcements about upcoming activities.

Registration Fees

You recently received your statements by email indicating that registration fees would be withdrawn on April 1st.  We decided to postpone that draw.  No registration fees will be collected until at least May 1st

13 & Over Banquet

We also decided that it is in the best interest of all of our families to postpone the 13 & Over Banquet indefinitely.  This decision was based on various recommendations from the Center for Disease Control including the call to limit social contact and gatherings of 10 or more people.

Pizza Day

For the same reasons as noted above, we cancelled our annual Pizza Day fundraiser.  As many of you know, our annual Pizza Day fundraiser is a critical portion of the club’s budget, amounting to about 8% of our annual revenue. This revenue directly offsets registration fees.  At this point, we tentatively plan to hold our Pizza Day fundraiser during the 2020-2021 short course season.  Depending on when we are back in the water for Long Course season, we may hold a Swimalong fundraiser yet this season as the preparation for that type of fundraiser is much less intense than for Pizza Day.  If you have already collected any money for pizza sales, please refund your customers and thank them for their support.

As many of you know, we are very proud to have three athletes that have qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials meet and others who are extremely close to Olympic Trials qualifying times.  Although we recognize the need to reduce social contact, we are seeking safe opportunities for those athletes to train with the permission of their parents.  Coach Brent has led this effort and will be communicating further on this subject when we are able to get some pool time.  At the same time, we know that all of our athletes are eager to be back in the pool and we will make every effort to make that happen as soon as possible.

Should you have any questions, please contact me or any Board Member.

With best wishes for good health to you and your loved ones,

Pat Bergin

Elmbrook Swim Club President
