March 17, 2020
As we are all aware the spreading concerns of the Coronavirus have lead to many questions about what is to come.
On Friday, March 13th it was announced that we are in a National State of Emergency. In order to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the Center for Disease Control’s top recommendation in addition to personal hygiene is Social Distancing or avoiding close contact with others. Swim practices are typically close quarters, both in and out of the pool, and potential transmission of any illness can be high in that environment. The New England Swimming LSC strongly recommends that all clubs suspend all team gatherings until at least Tuesday, April 7th.
Given everyone’s understanding of this situation is rapidly evolving and everyone is continually learning more about the nature of this pandemic, we think it is best that our member clubs take some time to evaluate what is in the best interest of their swimmers, their swimmers’ families, and the greater community.
We are aware that there is so much unknown regarding when we will be able to practice and compete again, but during this time we ask that all of our members please stay safe.
In regards to Swimming and Diving: Please allow some time for a response as the Coaching Staff is diligently working to establish an appropriate plan of action.
We will communicate said plan accordingly.
In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.
