Visualization: Using This Technique When Pools Are Not an Option
No pool to train at? Nowhere to go? Try using visualization to prepare yourself for next season! With visualization, you are in control of the outcomes of practices, meets, and your own feelings in each scenario, so you have the power to dictate how you would respond and react in various settings.
Visualization can allow swimmers to feel more confident in their races and training because they can control the outcomes of what they envision. More confidence can often lead swimmers to have better performances when they eventually live out a scenario they have previously visualized.
During this time of quarantining, we encourage swimmers and parents to experiment with different techniques to keep them in tune with their swimming hopes and dreams. You never know, an athlete may find a tool that works for them that they never knew about!
