Good Evening Bronze Parents,
I wanted to let you know that Coach Gina and I have been thinking of your swimmers. We are askiing you to remind your swimmers of how much core strength they have gained throughout the year. Bronze level is the first level where dryland training is emphasized. As with every sport, strong core strength enables swimmers to be stronger and faster. We introduce funadamental movements to the Bronze swimmers that help to build strength as well as aid in injury prevention. We are convinced that it is important to improving technique. The coaches can see the improvements and the swimmers see it and feel it as their strokes improve. It is a sure bet to "take the wiggle out" of their strokes.
I would like to offer a Swim Alberta approved dryland regime to your swimmers but I need to ensure that they will not hurt themselves by working out without supervision. Swim Alberta has suggested the best practice of obtaining parent consent for offering any exercices. If you would like your swimmer to participate in a team core strengthening challenge or swim focused dryland training, please contact me and I will send you a consent form so that your child can participate. Alternatively, you can work with your swimmer to find core strengthing exercises, at home. Maybe make it a family challenge. I know my core can always use a little challenge!!
As I mentioned in the previous email, I think that outdoor exercise is fundamental to keep our kids healthy in mind and body. Tell them to get out and get strong!! You can tell them that Coach Gina said so!! Have them send me a photo to prove that they are maintaining their strong swimmer bodies. I miss seeing their smiling faces.
Again, please contact me with any questions or concerns. Stay healthy and strong!
