COVID-19 Update on Club Concerns
Upper Arlington Swim Club has been mindful of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and continue to monitor the situation closely. The health and safety of our swimmers, coaches, and parents is of utmost importance.
With state-mandated restrictions and schools closed, it is still unclear when the Long Course season will get underway. Because of this uncertainty, the Board of Directors has elected to delay fees until we are able to begin the Long Course season, whenever that may be.
Therefore, instead of payment being due prior to the start of the season or upon registration, billing will not begin until after a start date is established. This will allow the Club to prorate dues, as appropriate, in relationship to the season.
This creates a unique situation for those members who elect an annual instead of a monthly payment option - we ask those members who are interested in the annual payment option to register for the monthly payment option, and reach out to Erin Reetz and indicate that you would like to convert to an annual payment when the season begins.
Additionally, the Board elected to delay the fee increase scheduled to occur at the commencement of the Long Course season. The Board will assess the feasibility of a fee increase prior to the start of the 2020-21 Short Course season, and will communicate this to the membership.
The 2019-20 Long and Short Course Banquet, which was scheduled for April 21st at Upper Arlington High School has been cancelled due to the school closure. This will not stop us from celebrating great swims and achievements, so we will be celebrating our swimmer’s accomplishments virtually.
Swimmers will receive awards for their Short and Long Course achievements when we can be together again. We also hope to schedule a get-together to celebrate swimming once we are able to gather as a group again.
Finally, annual Board of Director nominations and elections typically coincide with the annual Short Course Banquet. Because of the unusual circumstances we are in, the current Board of Directors will extend their terms through August 2020. We feel this is critically important to maintain Board leadership as we navigate through these unprecedented times. More information regarding the nomination and election process will be forthcoming as we approach the summer.
STAY SAFE ... STAY HEALTHY
