TAX DAY DEVIL DRYLAND $$$$$

Hello Devils!!!!

Not only is today, April 15, 2020, the 106th day of the year (this being a leap year), it is also TAX DAY.

Here are some interesting facts of the day:

The first Federal Income Tax was proclaimed by the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in 1861. That Tax Day was August 5th. Taxes were 3% on anyone earning more than $800 per year (the equivalent of about $22,000 today) and the money went to fund the Civil War.

April 15th of that same year (1861) Lincoln mobilized the Federal Army (75,000 volunteers) in the US Civil War.

April 15th four years later (1865) President Lincoln died 9 hours after being shot while attending the play "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre in Washington.

Question: What year did April 15th become the official US Tax Day?

(Answer: 1955)

Did you know that on that same date, April 15, 1955, Ray Kroc opened the first McDonald's Restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois??????

OKAY. Let's get to WORK!

Warm up: ARM CIRCLES, 10 each in both directions (to the front, side and straight up)

                   20 JUMPING JACKS

A-     ALTERNATING BACK LUNGES ( 4 sets of 4)

P-      PUSH UPS ( 4 sets of 10)

R-      REVERSE CRUNCHES- lie on back, bring knees toward chest, lift hips up off floor with abs ( 4 sets of 10)

I-        INCH WORMS- stand straight, bend forward from waist, legs straight. reach hands to floor and walk

                                      them forward to a plank. Hold for 10 then walk feet back in and stand. Repeat 10 times.

L-       LITTLE JUMPS- 2 forward/back, 2 side to side ( 4 sets of 20 )

15-     SQUATS- feet shoulder-width apart, squat with chest up, knees over ankles, thighs parallel to floor.

20-      WATERDEVIL BURPEES ( 4 sets of 5)

20-       TRICEP DIPS- with hands on a step or a chair, go as many as you can up to 20.

 

STRETCH----------CHILD'S POSE

                Kneel on the floor with toes together and knees apart. Sit on heels and stretch hands forward as you 

                lower your torso between your thighs and look at the floor. Push your butt back over feet to feel stretch.
