Rest of School Year and Summer Swimming

Due to the current Covid-19 situation Eagles will not be holding any more practices during this school year. We are bummed that our season ended so abruptly and with lingering questions.

We are waiting for a decision from the district regarding summers swimming. We are very hopeful we will get to swim in June but it may not be until July. I will not have an answer for this until this next week (May 12) or or even possibly until the following week (May 19). So please bear with us on the short notice and extended timeline.

We are very lucky to participate in swimming because the cholerine inactivates the virus. Because of this we will liklely be one of the few sports that will be able to continue during the summer. Most sports are on hold until the fall. We also do not know if we will particpate in any meets. USA Swimming is in our govering body and all large meets such as the June Dino Meet and LC State in July have been cancelled. The Utah Swimming board is meeting this coming week to discuss what events they will allow, but it sounds like only small dual meets or intersquad meets, with strict guidelines will be allowed and sanctioned this summer.

We will be under strict guidelines from the district, CDC and USA swimming. These all seem to be working together so hopefully it will be easy for us to implement all 3 organization's required guidelines. But this will include things such as, no showering or changing at the pool. Swimmers, parents and coaches will need to be socially distanced on the deck, and some other requirements as well. The safety and health of our swimmers is our first priority.

Swim lessons: These are not something I have looked into fully. I have an email into USA swimming about the best way to allow and handle these to keep both instructors and lesson kids safe. I will post an update as soon as I know more on these.

These times are uncertain, but we hope you will join us for summer swimming and we also understand if you choose not to participate with us this year. We want you all to know how much we love your swimmers and how much we miss this. We can't wait to see them in the water and hope that it will be soon.

If you have any questions that I did not answer please feel free to contact me at carly.eagleaquaticteam@outlook.com.

Thank you all again for supporting Eagles. This team would not be where it is without the support of our parents and swimmers.

Stay Safe and Healthy,

Eagle Aquatic Team Board
