May 21st update: OHSAA, return to the pool and the google survey

May 21, 2020

The Ohio governor's office and the Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Thursday afternoon all high school sports may begin individual skills training May 26 at the school facilities at the discretion of the respective school districts.

While this is good news for our athletes who are ready to return to the pool, there is still a lot of work to do.  We are working diligently with the school, Lake Erie Swimming Operational Risk, USA swimming, and the local heath department to create a plan to safely re-initiate practice for our swim team.

If you haven't had an opportunity, please take a moment to fill out our google survey regarding your interest/availability for summer swim practice.  Your feedback will be tremendously helpful as the coaches are creating new swim practice groups to comply with the safety and social distancing requirements.

As a reminder:  Our recreation league (AMSA) has been cancelled for the summer.  Many factors contributed to this decision by the leagues' representative.  The health and safety of our youngest swimmers (and their ability to maintain social distance requirements) was the primary concern.  We are obviously disappointed, but we will look forward to a great 2021 summer league.

If you missed the Lake Erie Swimming May 20th town hall, a recording of the event and other resources are available on the Lake Erie website. (

Please continue to refer to our website and social media channels for updates.
