All of us at SWMKE gives Amy Bilquest a huge THANK YOU for her outstanding zoom presentation to the team.
Amy is World Ranked and one of the USA's top female backstrokers. At the 2016 Olympic Trials, she just missed making the 2016 Olympic Team by finishing 3rd in the 100 Backstroke and 4th in the 200 Backstroke by hundredths of a second in each event. Amy has been an American Record Holder (200 Free Relay) and a USA National Team Member. She has also been a 3 x World Championship Medalist & NCAA Champion.
At the University of California she received many honors in and out of the pool including Cal's Neufeld Scholar-Athlete Award for having the highest GPA among all senior female student-athletes for 2018-19.
Amy covered her journey through competitive swimming from age 6 through the present balancing her life between the pool and the classroom. She talked about how she fought through numerous major injuries including a broken ankle and a broken hand. She shared what her emotions were after just missing the 2016 Olympic team by less than a tenth of a second in both the 100 & 200 Backstroke and how she battled back from that disappointment. Her positive, never give up attitude inspired all of us.
THANK YOU AMY!!
