Coach's Update - Back in the Pool June 1st!

 Swim Families,

We have great news! We just received word that we can start in the water on June 1st!

Every day brings change. We received news this evening that we can have up to 16 swimmers in the pool, or two swimmers to a lane. This frees us up tremendously. It means that seniors can practice every night if they choose from 7:10-8:30pm. And it means that we can offer a 3rd night for our Intermediate level swimmers. We will not be offering any dryland for at least the first two weeks as we transition into the water. I will be in touch mid-June with any additions.

Registration should be available on June 1st.

It is still very important that we follow the social distancing protocol (6 feet apart unless siblings) and no shared equipment and no locker room usage. I will put out very specific instructions in a few days that you can talk about with your swimmer: how and when they should enter the building, where to put his or her bag, expected behavior, and lane assignments. Your swimmer will be assigned a permanent lane for the summer that he or she will always swim in. Siblings will always be paired up in the same lane.

Amazingly we have FORTY swimmers who have confirmed with me for the summer. That is more than last summer.

Refer to your email for additional details and my current sketch of who has signed up to swim (please check that your swimmers are on the list!) and also who will swim on what nights. All Intermediate swimmers, regardless of whether they are on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday are welcome to swim again for a third practice on Friday nights. Please let me know if this is of interest to your Intermediate swimmer to commit to.

All Intermediate/Developmental practices are from 6:00-6:50pm.

All Senior practices are from 7:10-8:30pm for the first two weeks.

We will evaluate the time in a couple of weeks. Seniors are invited for all five practices per week. I hope that seniors will all come for at least three. I encourage them to aim for all of them. At this point, we have exactly 16 seniors, exactly two per lane which is our limit. If we get any more seniors interested in swimming, I will need to know exactly what days your senior plans to come to know where the open spots are, but at this point, that isn't necessary.

What I need from you: We are going to do a bulk order of swim equipment, since we get a team discount, that we will then sell to you. In order to get a semi-accurate order of items, please email Lisa at lafleurlisaj@gmail.com with your child’s shoe size to help with the accuracy of the order of fin sizes  by June 3rd.  Also, if you do not plan to purchase some or any of the items from the club, let her know. We won't get the equipment for a couple of weeks. So for the first part of the season, it is just suit, cap, and goggles.

The items we expect per group are:

I am excited to see your swimmers at the pool! Please look for more information in a couple of days about our on-deck social distancing procedures as well as specific lane assignments per swimmer.

Please email me with any questions or corrections! coachbungum@gmail.com

Stay tuned!
