Summer Training - Starts Wednesday

 Just a reminder that the VTSC Summer Training starts this Wednesday (June 17) for those that have already signed up. Carl is excited to see all your smiling faces. Please dress appropriately and come ready to train!

The 10 and Under class is FULL, however there are still spots available in the 11-13 group and 14 and Over group.

INFORMATION REGARDING TRAINING CAMP BELOW:

Thursdays @ Ruth Pond

June 17- July 23, 2020

Groups & Times: 12 athletes per group

             Group A, 14 & Over-       9:00 AM- 10:00 AM

Group B, 11-13 years-    10:15 AM- 11:15 AM

Group C, 10 & Under-    11:30 AM- 12:30 PM

Cost:

                                $20.00 Flex Membership (athletes exempted if they are a 2020 USA swimming member)

                                $35.00 Camp Fee

Dryland Training:

Athletes will need to be dressed appropriately in sneakers and workout clothes. Athletes will also need to bring a towel and personal water bottle. Face masks & gloves are encouraged at your discretion.

Open water Training:

Athlete will need to be dressed appropriately in swimsuits. Remember this is outdoor in water training, swim shirts and wetsuits will help to maintain body heat.  Swimmers will also need to bring goggles, towel, and personal water bottles.

Group Information:

10 & Under         During Dryland athletes will be introduced to exercises and structure of basic strength training. They will learn proper technique to safe guard against injury and maximize outcomes. Team building and cardio will also be incorporated!

Swimming in ponds, lakes, rivers, and the beach can be a challenge for even the most confident swimmers. The 10 & Under group is designed for our youngest swimmers to become comfortable in open water dealing with the muddy bottoms and slimy plants that they will encounter, as well as, begin work on open water swim workouts! This will take place at Ruth pond only.

11- 13 years        Dryland will be a step up in intensity from our 10 & under training with the same focus on developing proper exercise techniques and furthering their workout knowledge. Team building and cardio will be incorporated!

Swimming in ponds, lakes, rivers, and the beach can be a challenge for even the most confident swimmers. Our 11-13 year olds will work to become comfortable in open water dealing with the muddy bottoms and slimy plants that they will encounter. Swim workouts will be step up in intensity from our 10 & under. This will take place in Ruth Pond with a chance to move to an alternate location such as Robe Lake if progress allows.

14 & Over            This will be the most intense training of any of the camps. Athletes should be dedicated to idea of challenging themselves and becoming stronger physically & mentally! Dryland will build off the athletes’ knowledge to take their fitness to next level. Workouts will include calisthenics, resistance, running, plyometric, circuit, and flexibility training.

Open water swimming will consist of an introduction to open water and how to train in it. Once the group is comfortable there will be the opportunity to explore various bodies of waters around Valdez.
