Teaching Tuesday: Keeping Your Legs Healthy

Many swimmers are often known for having shoulder issues, but we must never neglect the health of our legs in this sport, specifically the knees and hips. Kicking can become a major strain on the legs over time, and we must be careful to use proper form in every exercise that we do. Anyone that swims breaststroke can attest to the importance of stretching the legs and hips to ultimately decrease the likelihood of injury. No matter if you swim breaststroke or not, make sure to make time to stretch before and after practices to increase mobility and strength in the legs.
