Updated Information for Land Training

Hello Hurricanes and Parents,

We are beginning our land training this week at Thornlea.

To ensure that the sessions run smoothly, here is some updated information about safety and volunteer information. Please read over the information BEFORE you swimmer attends a session.

Currenlty, we do not have parent volunteers for Groups 3 and 4. Land training will NOT be able to run without volunteers. If you are able to help, please let us know. :)

MST RULES AND PROCEDURE FOR SAFE RETURN TO DRYLAND TRAINING (Updated June 15, 2020

This document is prepared by Mallards Swim Team COVID-19 Management Committee based on  information available and received from third party sources including Ontario Public Health Authorities and Swimming Canada.  The document will be updated as information becomes available and or changed.

 

The document aims at providing parents and guardians with information surrounding New Safety Rules and Procedures for swimmers’ return to training.  Please note that it is each individual’s responsibility to access his or her health risk factors and for the decision(s) he or she makes.

 

1.  Arrival & Departure…

  • Arrive no earlier than 5 mins. before your dryland training starts.

  • If you arrive early, please wait in your car.  

  • Training sessions are scheduled 10 mins. apart.  

  • Athletes in the previous group are required to exit the field before the next group will be permitted to go on.

 

2.  Check-In…

  • Athletes are to check in with parent volunteer(s) upon arrival.

  • Athletes whose names are not on the list will not be permitted to train with the group. No exceptions.

  • Review health check questions.

 

3. Face Masks/ Shields & Physical Distancing...

  • Athletes are required to wear a face mask/shield when they arrive and leave the field.

  • Athletes are encouraged to wear a face mask/shield during training.

  • Physical distancing guidelines must be followed.  Please stay at least 2 m apart from one another at all times.

 

4.  Equipment...

  • Athletes must come prepared with their own personal training equipment including stretch cord, skipping rope and charged wireless headset.  No sharing of equipment will be allowed.  Please contact your coach if you require any of the above named equipment.

  • All borrowed equipment must be returned to MST at the end of the summer.

  • Please ensure all equipment is properly labelled with the athlete's name (on masking tape, if equipment belongs to MST). 

  • Swimmers are encouraged to sanitize/wipe down all equipment after practice, including their wireless headset.

 

 

5.  Parents & Guardians... 

  • Parents and guardians who choose to stay and watch the training should remain in their vehicles or stay at least 2 m apart and wear a face mask/shield.

 

6.  Athlete or staff experiences symptoms consistent with COVID-19 during or after dryland practice… (Health Monitoring, Swimming Canada P. 7)

  • An incident report will be recorded.

  • Athletes or staff must seek medical advice for further investigation and possible tests. 

  • The individual is required to stay home until cleared by a medical professional to return to training.

 

7. Athlete or staff tests positive for COVID-19… (Health Monitoring Swimming Canada P. 8)

  • Inform MST Covid-19 Committee and York Region Public Health immediately.

  • Training for the affected group will  be suspended immediately, until further notice.

  • All members and staff of the affected group must self quarantine for 14 days.

  • Affected individual(s) who tested positive must receive a negative test and cleared by a medical professional before returning to training.



 

HEALTH CHECK QUESTIONS:

Swimmers, Coaches and Volunteers MUST answer ‘No’ to all the questions below prior to attending any training session...

 

  1. Do you or anyone you have been in contact with have any of the following symptoms…

    • Cough

    • Shortness of breath

    • Chest pains

    • Difficulty breathing

    • Fever or Chills

    • Repeated shaking with chills

    • Abnormal muscle pain

    • Headache

    • Sore throat

    • Painful swallowing

    • Runny nose

    • New loss of taste or smell

    • Gastrointestinal illness

 

  1. Have you been in Contact with, or cared for anyone with Covid-19 in the last 14 days?

 

  1. Have you returned from a trip from outside of the country in the last 14 days?
