Gator Swim Day 1 Recap and Procedures Updates

It was such a joy to see the Gator swimmers at the pool today! Here is a quick recap of how things went this morning and an update on procedure changes/clarifications going forward.

The non-contact temperature checks went very quickly this morning for all sessions and the gaps in timing between sessions allowed swimmers to enter and exit with minimal overlap. The coach or volunteer taking the swimmers’ temperatures will be required to wear a mask since close proximity is needed for the thermometer to be accurate.

The gate entrance is a high-traffic area so we encourage parents/guardians approaching the gate for drop-off or pick-up to wear masks as they may come in closer contact with other kids and parents. Please do not congregate around the gate area.

Arrival stations were revised this morning to allow better distancing between age groups leaving and arriving. The 13-18s will enter and set up 6 feet apart under the blue tents on the west side. The 11-12 swimmers will gather 6 feet apart in the area between the diving board and kiddie pool. The 9-10 swimmers will meet 6 feet apart under the blue tents on the west side. The 8 and Unders will set up 6 feet apart in the area between the diving board and kiddie pool. The coaches set out cones today to facilitate social distancing during their group's circle time.

The perimeter fence along the east side has been marked with blue tape flags indicating safe distancing for swimmers to use to line up when they arrive and are awaiting check-in.

At pickup times, swimmers are encouraged to move along the tennis-area grass inside the perimeter fence to locate parents before exiting rather than entering the parking lot right away or congregating near the next group of swimmers checking in.

You can review the full COVID guidelines and updated schematics here. If these procedures do not make you feel comfortable having your child(ren) participate, please let the Gator board know.

We are looking forward to seeing your swimmers in the pool the rest of the week! Stay tuned for news about our non-contact Donut Friday!
