Summer Swim Update from Coach Babik

Dear Families,

I would like to update you on the summer season at this point. We have had good turnouts at our practices in the last week. The swimmers' response to training has been overwhelmingly positive, and I have enjoyed getting to see them again!  Having a heatedpool probably has been a big plus! Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate until we are able to move indoors.

Our school board approved a PT Athletics return to play plan last night. Although it specifically adressed varsity sports, our club is likely to be allowed to return to the H.S. pool in early July. This will be on condition of our following the new safety guidlines put in place in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Using indoor facilities require stricter precautions than ourdoor facilities.

Finally, I want to remind families that we are continuing to implement proceedures to keep our athletes safe. Swimming in a chlorinated pool, and being outdoors, significantly reduces the risk of contracting most diseases. It does not reduce the risk to zero. We are trying to remind kids to distance themselves at all times, but this has been a challenge. The kids naturally are naturally gravitating towards one another, and some are carpooling. I just wanted parents to be aware of this. Please continue to encourage your swimmer to bring equipment if that have it, and to wash their hands after leaving Park Swim Club. We are continuing to screen athletes upon arrival and keep attendance at practice. It is important that if there is a COVID case reported among our families, that we can use this record to inform people of potential exposure.

Thanks for your support! So far we are having a great time returning to swimming!
