With the threat of thunderstorms in the forecast for tomorrow morning, I want to make sure everyone is aware of our policy regarding inclement weather.
When practices are in the outdoor pool:
- We will swim in the rain unless it is so heavy that lifeguards are unable to see below the surface of the water.
- We will not swim during thunder and lightning.
When practices are in the indoor pool:
- We will swim during rain, thunder, and lightning except for extremely rare cases of very severe thunderstorms and/or tornado conditions when weather sirens sound.
When we cannot be in the pool due to weather we will usually wait for a period of time to see if things clear up before we cancel practice. However, since practice times are shorter due to social distancing restrictions our wait time will be significantly decreased.
If practices are delayed or canceled we will post status updates on the scrolling marquee on the team website as well as our Team Feed and Facebook pages. We will also send an email to families.
Although you can call the front desk at the Y if you like, the chances of getting the most up-to-date information are small, since I will be monitoring the skies as well as the radar and posting updates online.
