Tahoe Swim Club Families,
We finally have some concrete updates for our swim team.
The City was seriously considering closing down the facility indefinitely until they could build a new facility. We have had some serious good fortune on our side and people like our Mayor, Jason Collins and our Recreation Superintendant, Lauren Tomaselli have helped sway the current situation in our favor.
We will be out another 6-8 weeks. (Until the end of July) The City of SLT will be fixing the Rec center and keeping it open at least until a new Rec center is built and opened. They are going to keep the bubble on indefinitely. This may cause some concern in the future for our swim meet but it will be a small price to pay to keep the pool open.
I know that some of this is good news and some of it is bad news but I will keep fighting for our team and we will hopefully be back to normal soon.
Lastly, some of you have asked questions about swimming on your own or if there are any other places to swim. Northern Nevada Aquatics will be allowing Tahoe Swim Club members to join its practices. These practices will be free of charge to our swimmers.. But they will be held in Reno. The practices are different times for different age groups but range from 4:00pm-6:30pm start time. Please let me know if you would like to go to a practice in Reno. Due to COVID procedures, there is a maximum number of swimmers at any given time and we must assign each athlete a lane to use and document it with the City of Reno.
Stay strong and healty. We will keep the team on track by all working together.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions,
