Dear North Texas Swimming Clubs, Coaches, Officials, Athletes, and Parents,
As we continue the process of North Texas athletes gradually returning to practice based on state/local and facility guidelines, we would like to update you regarding meet Sanctioning.
USA Swimming made the announcement to allow LSCs to decide on the Sanctioning of meets in July, but all times achieved during the month of July will only be used at the LSC level. The times achieved during July cannot be used for any USA Swimming programs, camps or competition above the LSC level and times will not be uploaded to the SWIMS database.
North Texas Swimming Inc Board met and discussed our best course of action. Given we have a limited number of athletes returning to pool practice more regularly, and in addition to the fact that athlete times loaded into SWIMS will not count towards qualifying times beyond the LSC level, the NTSi Board has voted to not allow Sanctions for the month of July.
Nevertheless, as our athletes are regaining swimming strength, we believe we can support our athletes through fun competition by teams organizing non-sanctioned intrasquad meets that follow current state/local and facility guidelines during the month of July. This is a great time for swim meet hosts to learn from these ’trials runs’ and analyze what worked and what should be tweaked.
It is imperative that we continue to follow the state/local and facility guidelines as health and safety of our athletes and members is our top priority. As we are in unprecedented times and things are continually changing, we will keep you updated with developments and Sanctioning for August. We will make an announcement for August sanctioning no later than the week of July 13.
Thank you for your continued support. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
