Gators this week

How is it the last week of Gators?! It has been an exceptional summer of Gator spirit shining through some tough times!

The hard work and dedication of our swimmers, families, and coaches this year deserves a reward. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate a season well swum with a visit from the Kona Ice truck from 7-10 am on Friday, 7/31! Swimmers who would like to participate will need $4-$6 to spend after practice; Kona Ice can take cards or cash, and exact change isn’t required. Parents and siblings, please join your swimmers for a cold treat, too!

The coaches have also been working hard to put together some of our usual season closers, including a virtual awards ceremony on Sunday evening since we can’t have our banquet. Please look for a Zoom meeting link with details later in the week and tune in for a little celebration of the season and some of our unique Gator traditions, including presentation of the Drennen O’Melia Award.

Quaranteam tees, if you ordered, will be distributed on Friday! Please let us know if you can’t pick yours up then and we will set it aside for pickup at the club next week.

On Thursday, in addition to single Hint waters there will be an opportunity to purchase any leftover cases on a first come, first served basis for $10 each, cash or Venmo @SGCC-Gators. Thanks for supporting this 2020 fundraiser!

Thanks for this successful season also go out to our team sponsors, Nacho Yogues and Tegan Trucking Services!

As the season ends, if you’re looking for opportunities to keep your swimmer in the water and thriving, Slipstream swim team (which many Gators swim on year-round) has been renting SGCC this summer to offer outdoor evening practices and has opportunities available for additional swimmers in August! Please visit their website for more information.
