2020-2021 PVAC Swim Season Update

Dear PVAC,

We are writing with good news. As of now, the Aquatics Health and Safety Plan has been approved by the PV School District. We are moving forward with opening registration for PVAC for returning swimmers.  The registration link will be active on the PVAC TeamUnify website at 5:00 pm on Monday, August 24th, 2020. There are a few things to keep in mind when registering:

  1. The most likely scenario is that we will have 25 people total in the pool area at one time. This will include 22 swimmers, 2 coaches, 1 lifeguard. Parents will not be allowed in the building or balcony. Due to these restrictions we will be capping the team at the first 100 swimmers to register.
  2. Given the restricted number of swimmers in the pool area at one time, we will be aiming to give each group 2 one-hour practice slots per week and practices will be held Mon – Sat. You may have a Saturday practice slot.
  3. SAL Season is canceled due to the number of teams that have not been granted access to their pools. We are very fortunate that PV is allowing us to use the facility. While there will be no official meets and no Championships, we still aim to have some competitions and some fun!
  4. With no meets and no Fall Fest, the volunteer requirements are waived.
  5. We are trying to get creative with other teams that are having seasons to plan some virtual competitions as well as in club competitions.
  6. Payment and a waiver will be required with registration. If the season is cancelled, postponed, put on hold, etc. We will issue available refunds.
  7. As with everything right now, we are proceeding with caution and optimism. Everything is subject to change at any time. We will aim to keep you apprised of all information as we learn it and appreciate your patience and support.
  8.  Parents must be on time to pick up their swimmers, we cannot have a cluster of swimmers standing by the door waiting for parents.

Safety Plan – It is imperative that we follow the Aquatic Program Safety Guidelines. A safe return to swimming relies on all of us following the guidelines and helping to keep each other safe.

  • All Participants enter through door V & exit through door U. Masks must be worn when entering and exiting the premises.
  • There will be a hand sanitizer station at the entrance and exit of the facility. Hands must be sanitized at entrance and exit of practice.
  • Swimmers will enter the facility and find a marked spot to put their bag and wait until it’s time to enter the pool to ensure distancing. Masks must be worn until the swimmer is ready to enter the pool.
  • Swimmers will stagger start at opposite ends of the pool to avoid clusters at the wall.
  • A Health Check/Symptoms Form must come with your swimmer to each practice. Swimmers will not be allowed in without this, there will be no exceptions.
  • Locker Rooms are closed for changing.  Come ready to swim, No changing after practice.
  • Balcony is closed to all
  • If you or someone in your family has a positive covid test, a Coach or Board Member MUST be notified immediately.
  • If you or someone in your family has a positive covid test, the School District’s protocols on returning to the building must be followed, a sample of those protocols will be posted on the website.
  • If you or a family member have had close contact with someone with a positive covid test, you must stay home from practice and quarantine for 10 days.
  • If you or a member of your family are showing symptoms, you must remain home from practice.
  • Young swimmers must be walked to the door and picked up at the door for safety reasons as the parking lot gets dark. It is requested that parents of young swimmers remain in the parking lot during practice.
  • Since PV is affording us the opportunity to swim, not all schools are doing so, we MUST follow the safety rules to the letter of the law.  If your swimmer can not follow the rules, failure to do so will result in the following:

·       1st offense: removal from pool and a warning

·       2nd offense: removal from pool and discussion with parents

·       3rd offense: removed from team for remainder of season.

Please understand that the safety of ours swimmers is our top priority and keeping our kids swimming safely can only be accomplished if we all work together.

Sincerely,

PVAC Board & Coaches
