Seven years ago, Kyle Bubolz started with the CWAC program and under his leadership our age group program soared to new heights. He led our 11-12 and 10&Under groups at UIC for the past 5 years before transitioning to the 13-14 year olds for the past few years. He has been named the Illinois Age Group Coach of the Year 3 times and was twice a top ten finalist for National Coach of the Year. CWAC has won the past 4 Age Group State team titles, set numerous state and national records and was named the top age group program in the country in 2019.
The swimming accolades are great, but those who have swam for Coach Kyle have enjoyed the experience of working through the process of becoming a better swimmer. They enjoy his practices, his speeches and constant encouragement. He found a way to challenge and push athletes beyond what they thought they could do, but at the same time made it a fun and enjoyable experience. Fast times are great, but it's the work that goes into achieving those times that matter. Coach Kyle is able to motivate and engage with his athletes to help them reach new heights as swimmers and build confidence as young adults.
Coach Kyle will be moving to Atlanta next week and he will be missed. He has made a lasting impact on our program and all of the swimmers and coaches that he has worked with. We wish him the best of luck as he and his wife start a new chapter. As he always tells his swimmers, "swim fast and have fun". Thank you Kyle for being an awesome coach, your swimmers swam fast and had fun!
