Avery Voss of UASC Commits to Stanford

Avery Voss of UASC Commits to Stanford

UASC has its next college commitment among our high school (Golden Bear group) seniors for 2020.

Avery Voss has committed to swim at Stanford University next year.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be continuing my academic and swimming careers at Stanford University! I want to thank my coaches, my family, and my friends for their support through this process. I can’t wait to join Stanford’s amazing community! Go Card! #fearthetree”

A talented sprint freestyler, Voss swims year-round with Upper Arlington Swim Club under head coach Mike de Bear and owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 50m free. He won the 50 free and 100 free at the Ned Reeb Invite in December and most recently notched 100% best times at the MAKO Senior Circuit in March.

Last summer, he registered five top-18 finishes and five lifetime bests at Ohio LCM Seniors before going on to earn bronze in the 50m free and take ninth in the 100m free at Geneva Futures.

His best times include (SCY/LCM):

  • 50 free – 20.02/23.06
  • 100 free – 44.12/51.37
  • 200 free – 1:42.56/1:54.92

Also competing for Upper Arlington High School, Voss is a four-time Ohio State Championship finalist. He was the runner-up in the 100 free and placed third in the 50 free as a junior while taking eighth and seventh, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Voss has made major improvements over the past 2.5 years, dropping three seconds in the 50 free, eight seconds in the 100 free, and 13 seconds in the 200 free. He will add valuable depth to the Cardinal’s sprint group next year both individually and on relays.

Congratulations to Avery and the entire Voss family!
